While You Weren't Looking is, however, a contemporary movie describing the country's current political, economic and cultural challenges.
Dez and Teri are upper-class lesbians. They attempt to sustain their interracial relationship, which is experiencing difficulties.
The two women keep secrets from each other, leading a hypocritical existence and apparently ignoring the hardships experienced by their daughter, an art and gender studies student who is in love with a girl coming from an entirely different background.
This film, an original Out in Africa Festival production, is a multi-faceted drama revealing the working class-bourgeoisie divide, as well as the intricate nature of relationships.
