A spine-chilling movie that brings together four nerve-wrecking horror plots that focus on women who face various crises, some fantastic and some very much down to earth.
All four sections were directed by renowned, talented women artists: musician Annie Clark is known to her fans as St. Vincent, or to some as the partner of actress and model Cara Delevingne. Karin Kusama (Girlfight, Jennifer’s Body) is an esteemed director. Roxanne Benjamin produces the V/H/S horror film series, and Jovanka Vuckovic was for more than six years the editor of popular horror magazine Rue Morgue, and has several award-winning short horror films under her belt.
The four films move from unrestrained black humor to extremely disturbing, frightening situations, and are all connected by terrifying segments of gothic animation by Sofia Carrillo.
XX gives audiences a new, queer, feminist perspective, as it is not every day that we see women characters and their daily deliberations in the horror genre.
