Imagine a combination of “Clueless”, “Bring it on”, “Pitch Perfect” and “Heathers”; what do you get? “Emo the Musical”.
Ethan, a sensitive and imaginative boy with suicidal tendencies, arrives at a new high school. He joins the Emo band based at a rival school that also has a Christian youth band, of which Trinity, a devout Christian girl, is a member. The two teens are attracted to each other, yet social stigmas and high school dramas will not allow them to be happy together. With a lot of black humor and hilarious songs, “Emo the musical” is a mature musical comedy with important social messages.
Sure enough, there is a charming gay couple that, in the finest “Glee” tradition, steals the show. If you are mature in age yet young in spirit, love musicals and are fans of teen dramas (only with a charming queer touch and plenty of humor) like us, then this is the perfect movie for you!
Parents should take their children with them when they go to watch this wonderful Australian film, especially if they are having the back-to-school blues; “Emo – the musical” is sure to put a smile on their faces.
