Pedro earns a living performing in erotic online chat rooms. On his live shows he dips his fingers into various paints, which he slowly applies to his naked body, turning into his character of Neon Boy. Glowing in the dark, Pedro appears an assertive, daring, and sociable guy. Yet reality is entirely different from the illusion he sells to his clients. His sister, with whom he lives, is moving to the U.S. to work; he is expelled from school after attacking a fellow student, and awaits trial. One evening he realizes that someone is copying his act. He contacts his mysterious rival, agreeing to meet with him. This meeting will have a far-reaching impact on Pedro.
As in previous films directed by the duo of Marcio Reolon and Filipe Matzembacher, Hard Paint takes us back to Porto Alegre in southern Brazil: a place vacant of its inhabitants, a city of ghosts where young people seek intimacy, community, and security.
Viewing is restricted to 18 years and older due to explicit sexual content.
