A humble São Paulo apartment is a cosmos in and of itself. A multilayered universe of reality and fantasy. And indeed, this extraordinary, experimental documentary, The Blue Flower of Novalis, is an intimate invitation into the world of poet, Marcelo Diorio.
In between making coffee and having a string of casual hookups, his innermost world is revealed. Books are Marcelo’s sanctuary from a complicated reality and in particular, his obsession with the works and philosophy of Novalis. Marcelo goes through life in search of that same blue, oh-so elusive flower. He seems to be living Novalis’ philosophy (the pen name of German author and poet, Georg Philipp Friedrich Freiherr von Hardenber) in every sense of the way. And though he does not leave his home, Marcelo is everywhere. In Marcelo’s world, the tangible is the imaginary and the unreal, authentic. Life is but the beginning of death and the body is no more than a vessel for the artist to convey their message with.
Directors Craneiro and Vinagre have delivered an honest, serious, entertaining and brilliant film that is as tender and seductive as it is painful.

Viewing is restricted to 18 years and older due to explicit sexual content.
