The 2019 San Francisco International Film Festival – World premiere

The international premiere of new and important film by Tom Shepard (Scout’s Honor, Whiz Kids) that brings to the big screen the stories of for LGBT migrants who have come to San Francisco to save their lives after fleeing their home countries.
Subhi (Syria); Junior (Congo) who is HIV positive and whose mother is a clergywoman; and lesbian couple Mari and Cheyenneh (Angola). These four young individuals must each face in their own way the social barriers ahead of them, as they endure a Sisyphean daily struggle in an environment that is not always forthcoming. Mari and Cheyenneh decide to record an album together; Subhi becomes a social activist with an organization helping queer refugees, while Junior struggles to find a roof over his head.
Shepard has made a documentary that does not present reality with rose-tinted, rainbow-colored glasses but nevertheless, still gives us hope for a better future ahead.
