The close friends Gautam and Buddha are the stars of a traveling theater in the most remote areas of India. The theater is made up entirely of men, and Gautam and Buddha play the female characters. Buddha has been gay out of the closet with a partner for several years. Gautam has a wife and son in the village but during their travels he has sex with various men, some of whom are fans waiting outside the artists tent.
In his first full-length documentary, Shayok Mukhopadhyay brings to the big screen the extraordinary story of Gautam and Buddha and finds nuances, tolerance and unexpected complexity in this remote corner of the world.
