Argentinian director Marco Berger’s latest film is a deceptive film that plays with various cinematic genres.
What begins as a film about the sexual discovery of a 15-year-old boy turns out to be a completely different work than we expect.
Ezequiel explores his sexual boundaries, whether it’s an attempt to seduce a straight friend with a porn magazine, or staring at skaters in the park next to his house. There he meets Mono and the two quickly become friends. For the first time in his life he falls in love with someone, goes through sexual experiences, and the chemistry between the two young boys flourishes.
But as Ezequiel is about to find out, Mono has completely different plans for him.
Berger manages to create a tense and nerve-wracking atmosphere with the help of cinematography, that creates a sense of voyeurism, and clever editing, that hides more than it reveals.
The impressive performances of the young actors in very complicated roles should be noted favorably.
