As a young transwoman, Zehava was denied asylum by Israel and repeatedly imprisoned because of her second-class status as a Palestinian. She fled the West Bank to Israel at age 19 after surviving sex trafficking, multiple assaults, and an attempted honor killing, only to face new obstacles as an undocumented, homeless Palestinian.
