Juan is a shy, retiring widower running a mannequin factory.
He lives with his 18-year old dance student son Pablo, whose dream is to star in his favorite reality TV show, and who tries to live as colorfully and joyfully as possible in their drab, homophobic neighborhood.
Pablo is also having a secret affair with their neighbor, a member of a street gang. Juan, meanwhile, hopes that his manager will offer him a partnership in the business he has run for 25 years.
One night, Juan and Pablo's lives change, and for the first time, Juan faces the harsh reality his son experiences on a daily basis.
Sergio Hernández, of Gloria and No fame, plays the role of Juan with touching sensitivity. The scene in which he confronts the reality within which he had been caught is simply heartbreaking. Viewers are bound to become smitten with newcomer Andrew Bargsted from the moment he appears on screen. Finally, renowned Chilean actress Antonia Zegers (No, El Club) is splendid in her supporting role as a hospital nurse.
You'll Never be Alone is an impressive, multi-faceted debut film, directed with great sensitivity.
Executive Producer Daniel Marc Dreifuss in attendance.
In association with ‘A Wider Bridge’.
