This award-winning film is undoubtedly one of the finest documentaries of the past few years.
It is the story of tremendous love, bitter disappointments and self-doubt, and above all, of admirable courage: the courage to take risks, to dare do something new, to be true to yourself – regardless of age.
Directed with much compassion and love, it is simply a must-see.
The film introduces the moving, heart-warming stories of a group of transgendered people and drag queens in their 60’s and 70’s.
Years after quitting the stage they muster up the courage to return for a final extravaganza, staging a show called Gardenia.
What begins as a one-time event turns into a global tour lasting two whole years. Yet reality is still there once the tour is over, when troupe members are forced to leave the limelight and return to the dreary existence they had left behind.
