In 2016, Ingrid Jungermann’s debut film raised quite a riot at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it won the Best Screenplay Award.
The film tells the story of Morgan, a woman with a tremendous fear of commitment. Together with her ex, Jean, she hosts a podcast on female serial killers. The podcast makes them into small-scale celebrities. While they still have feelings for one another, they continue working together, which results in uneasy situations. When Morgan meets the mysterious Simone she is captivated by her hypnotizing presence, and, as usual, becomes involved with an almost complete stranger. Jean begins to suspect Simone, trying to find evidence that she is entirely different than the person she poses at to Morgan.
Women Who Kill is a black comedy about fear of commitment, of love, and about women who love women.
Jungermann’s work has a distinctive voice, which highlights her talent as director, screenwriter, and actress.
