In 2015, TLVFest screened La Visita, the debut film by Mauricio López Fernández – a modest yet impressive Chilean/Argentine production starring an unknown trans actress by the name of Daniela Vega. Fast forward to February 2017, where Vega took the Berlin International Film Festival by storm in Fantastic Woman, the new, exciting film by Sebastián Lelio (Gloria). Then, in March 2018, Vega made history by being the first trans person to speak at the Academy Awards Ceremony.
Vega is not just an actress. She is an award-winning playwright and theater performer, and an accoladed singer and musician.
We are proud to give a TLVFest Honorary Award to one of the most fascinating contemporary artists, whose unforgettable performance was the axis of an entire film through which she changed the world of cinema.
