A special screening of Song Lang, Leon Le’s captivating film. This marks the directorial debut for the actor who at 13, immigrated to the US with his family and who, after a number of short films was able to realize his dream of making a film in his homeland. The film which opened in Vietnam, has won the Vietnam Film Association’s Best Film, Actor, and Set Design awards.
Song Lang is an intoxicating, cinematic experience but also a tender, restrained and touching love story between two completely different people from the opposite ends of the social spectrum. At the heart of the story is a young opera singer who works in a theatre that is now deep in debt. A violent collector has been sent by local loan shark to collect payment. The encounter between the two will change their lives forever.
The chemistry between the two stars, Liên Bỉnh Phá for whom this is his debut film, and up-and-coming Vietnamese star, Isaac, will have your heart beating out of your chest.
