An exciting and humorous drama starring two-time Oscar nominee Jackie Weaver (“Animal Kingdom” and “Silver Linings Playbook”) and directed by well-known director Thom Fitzgerald from his classic film “The Hanging Garden.”
Maybelline is the conductor of a women’s choir at church. After decades of not being in touch with her only son, she receives notice of his passing. Despite her husband’s opposition, she decides to fly to San Francisco for her son’s funeral. There she meets his partner (Adrian Garnier, “The Entourage”), his best friend (Lucy Liu, “Kill Bill”) and a host of colorful drag queens led by Jackie Beat, who appear in her son’s failing club and need a mother figure after their families abandoned them. Since her son did not prepare a will, all the property passes to the conservative mother, who, surprisingly, instead of selling the club, decides to save the business and bring it back to life.
The film rightly won the Audience Choice Award at the Palm Springs Festival in January 2020. It is a heartwarming, funny and touching film. Even after leaving the movie theater you just won’t stop smiling
