Cole is an aspiring twentysomething screenwriter who is finishing his film studies. He lives his life as if it were a carefully crafted Hollywood comedy that operates according to a script. It seems logical and obvious to him that if he has a romantic relationship with Haley, the daughter of the screenwriter he most admires, he will meet her legendary father and the latter’s talent will catch on to him and allow him to write an ambitious screenplay. But life is not a romantic comedy, and there is a third person named Austin, Cole’s best friend and writing partner. It turns out that Austin is in love with Cole, while Cole has complex feelings towards Austin.
“All About Who You Know” is a surprisingly carefully staged Canadian dramatic comedy with a self-consciously clever script where Horowitz plays with the formula of the romantic comedy.
