“Katzenball”, Veronika Minder’s thrilling film, celebrates its 15 year anniversary since its first screening at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2005, where it also won the Best Documentary Award at the Teddy Queer Film Competition.
What was it like to be a hidden minority in Switzerland?
Five women from different generations provide us with an insight into their lives and allow us to see life “on the other side” in a different light. They reveal pieces of history about parties, encounters, love stories, relationships, political struggles, and how a narrative was created for their lives and the culture they created.
With the help of stills and excerpts from movies and TV shows, an unfamiliar and particularly rich history of Switzerland and its lesbian community is revealed.
