Escondido, California, 1994. It’s the end of the summer holiday and Gene is getting ready for one last slumber party with his highschool theatre club friends. Rose, their theatrical host is going to be flying in the morning to start her adult life in college and following her the rest of the group is going to leave one by one to their chosen colleges across the country. But Gene has bigger issues than staying behind in the local community college. He wants to seize the moment before his best friends leave and come out to them as gay, but he’s terrified of what the conservative group of Christian believers might think.
Jonathan Wysocki’s funny and nostalgic debut film is a love letter to theatre and cinema loving geeks of the 90’s, to late bloomers and to friendship.
