The new film of one of Italy’s leading directors Laura Bispuri (“Sworn Virgin”) is a small family drama, humane and touching.
One winter day all of Nena’s family gathers together in the old family home by the beach to celebrate her birthday. Everyone is squeezed into the tiny apartment that can barely contain all the secrets and feelings of the family- the devoted husband, the old maid that has been with Nena for forty years now, the maid’s daughter, the children arriving from the big city and their young granddaughter. The granddaughter keeps a peacock as a house pet and it falls in love with a painting of a dove in the living room – an impossible love. A meeting of the peacock with a real dove on the balcony will cause the whole family to reexamine their lives.
