This unusual documentary by Belgian director Aleksandr M. Vinogradov follows choreographer Thierry Smits from the auditions and grueling rehearsals right to the perfect renowned dance piece Anima Ardens (Burning Soul), which was also presented in Tel Aviv’s Suzanne Dellal center in 2017.
11 bare men practice ceaselessly and challenge the bounds of intimacy, manhood and voyeurism.
This film could have easily become an erotic film, but its a film that takes an unconventional look on the work process and relationship between choreographer and dancers, especially in such a physically and emotionally demanding piece.
