“No Straight Lines” brings to the screen the stories of five independent queer comics artists. From works that were created with no budget and no recognition they managed to find critical and commercial fame and receive an international stage. Achievements such as illustrating the cover of “Time” magazine and a Tony winning Musical on Broadway.
The film gives its viewers fascinating glimpse of the processes those artists went through in their personal lives in regard to historical events such as the AIDS crisis, workplace discrimination, and finiding love.
Director Vivian Kleiman provides a heartwarming documentary that will make you both smile and shed a tear, about queer comics artists that overcame plenty of challenges and hardships on their way to recognition.
