Known to Israeli audiences as the scriptwriter for I Am Love, starring Tilda Swinton, and for his 2011 TLVFest hit Loose Cannons, Ivan Cotroneo has now directed his second feature film, One Kiss.
Antonio, Blu and Lorenzo are 10th graders living in a small northern Italian town. All three are outsiders.
Sixteen-year old Antonio, a star basketball player, suffers from a speech impediment and has learning difficulties. Blu had degrading graffiti sprayed about her on the school walls, having been discovered to have slept with her boyfriend and three of his friends. Fifteen-year old new kid Lorenzo is openly gay, a fashionista and a huge Lady Gaga fan. An adopted child, he is used to being a square peg in a round hole. The three teenagers become good friends, and together they successfully fight back their bullying schoolmates. Then, one kiss might change their future.
With its music, vivacity and loveable young protagonists, One Kiss is instantly addictive. Yet it is also a reminder of the harsh outcomes of cyber bullying, prejudice and homophobia.
Director/Script writer Ivan Cotroneo and actor Rimau Grillo Ritzberger in attendance.
