TLVFest Honorary Award: Monika Treut

Monika Treut is a groundbreaking filmmaker who has greatly contributed to the silver-screen representation of LGBTQ sexuality over the past decades. In addition to being a director with a unique message, Treut is also a producer and scriptwriter who, since the early 1980s, has influenced not only Lesbian-Feminist cinema, but German independent cinema as a whole. Her work has inspired women filmmakers across the world, and her many achievements have made her one of the leading voices of modern queer cinema.
Since the 1985 premiere of her debut film Seduction: The Cruel Woman, more than 12 of Treut’s movies were included in various Berlinale programs. Her 1999 documentary Gendernauts won the Teddy Award for Best Documentary, and is still considered the most important documentary on transgender people. We are proud to host Monika Treut and show a selection of her films in honor of her winning the Teddy Award for Lifetime Achievement at the 2017 Berlinale.
TLVFest will screen the following movies:
SEDUCTION: THE CRUEL WOMAN
