The World to Come

In upstate New York, in 1850, Abigail begins a new year on the country farm where she lives with her husband. She spends her time handcuffing on the secluded farm and writing poetic notes in her diary. Tallie, a young woman, direct and temperamental, moves in with her husband on a nearby farm. The two women find themselves spending more time with each other and what seems like a friendship between two lonely married women develops into a surprising and daring intimate love story. 
“The World to Come” examines the lives of two women who find themselves fighting to be who they are at a time when women’s rights and LGBT rights did not exist at all, especially in isolated rural areas. Where the plot of the film is situated.
