Ivan is a young and ambitious chef in Mexico. He works in a restaurant, hoping to move to a better place in the kitchen.
One night he meets Gerardo, a handsome teacher who, unlike Ivan, is out of the closet. The chemistry between them is immediate. However the revelation of the love story between the two causes Ivan to no longer be able to see his son.
In desperation, he makes the decision to cross the border into the US to advance his culinary career, promising his son and lover that he will return.
“I Carry You with Me” is a bittersweet story about the American Dream. It is also a cross-border love story and is part of the impressive Mexican cinema that is conquering the world of film festivals.
The plot is based on the true story of a highly acclaimed Mexican chef in New York City.
