Colors of Tobi

A surprising documentary by Alexa Bakony.
Eva lives with her family in a tiny village in Hungry. Eva’s child, who is 16 years old, has recently come out as transgender and lives under his chosen name – Tobi. After the initial shock all the family gathers to support him. But Eva is also worried by the idea of losing her little girl. Toby is determined to transition to male while going through the regular hardships of puberty. Eva tries to be the mother her son needs so badly during this very complex time of his life. Things get complicated when Toby starts to question his boundaries as a transgender man and beings to dream of leaving the village in favor of the big city, as soon as he will reach 18. Toby also has to deal with the general atmosphere in his country, Hungary, which is becoming more and more conservative and transphobic.
“Colors of Toby” is a touching film about freedom and acceptance.
