NIMBY stands for Not In My Back Yard, but even the most small and quiet town in Finland has a few secrets in the backyard and they are about to burst out.
Mervi goes back to her hometown in Finland together with her German-Iranian girlfriend Kata, with the full intent of confronting her traditional parents and coming out to them. To her immense surprise Mervi finds out she is not the only one keeping secrets. Soon the two young women will find themselves in the middle of a battlefield between the different communities that compose the so-called quiet town.
“NIMBY” incorporates pretty much every possible current subject and still manages to surprise the viewer with plot twists, hilarity and suspense, and at the same time gives us a most unconventional coming out story.
