Debut film by the bisexual actress Natalie Morales (“Parks and Recreation”, “Santa Clarita diet”, “Dead to me”).
When Adam’s husband surprises him with virtual weekly Spanish lessons, Adam isn’t sure how or where this new element will fit in his routine. But when an unexpected tragedy turns his life upside down, Adam decides to stick with the lessons, and develops a complex emotional connection with his Spanish teacher, Cariño. But can you really know a person just by sharing a traumatic experience with them?
This is the second collaboration between director/actress Natalie Morales and director/actor Mark Duplass (“The morning show”). The two worked together on the HBO show “Room 104” that Duplass produced and Morales directed two episodes. The two manage to create a heartwarming comic drama, depicting a virtual relationship between a teacher and a student half the world away.
